E412 Connection Group
This connection group is being hosted by Robert Nolen.
Purpose
The pastoral team is dedicated to our church wide discipleship program and we want to be at the center of the push to make “every member a minister.” This group is using the E412 materials “for the equipping of the saints” which are available in the bookstore. You are encouraged to bring with you those who do not yet know the Lord. Our focus is to lay a biblical foundation and teach you how to teach others and equip you for marketplace ministry. We strongly encourage you to be a part of this group.
Model
Discipleship is not supposed to be complicated. Difficult sometimes, complicated never. Two thousand years ago it was so simple that a carpenter explained it to uneducated fishermen in one sentence saying, “Come, follow me and will make you fishers of men,” (Matthew 4:19). The fishermen understood it, acted on it, and they changed the world. If modern discipleship is confusing or complicated, it is because we have strayed from the biblical pattern that Jesus and the original twelve modeled for us.
For Jesus, discipleship was and is top priority. Yes, He fed the hungry and healed the sick, but He always gave the twelve disciples His prime time. His final word to them before He ascended into heaven was a commission not just to be disciples, but to make disciples. Like the original followers of Jesus, we are supposed to be disciples and we are supposed to make disciples. In other words, we are supposed to follow Jesus and we are supposed to help others follow Him.
The problem is that while most Christians agree that discipleship is important, even essential for Christian maturity, precious few have a clear strategy for discipleship. Even fewer have a simple definition for discipleship.
At The Bridge Orlando, we use a simple biblical method of discipleship, rather than a complicated theological definition based on a particular church tradition. We use the E412 Discipleship Series which is based on Ephesians 4:12 and written to present a clear discipleship process that we use to meet our evangelism, discipleship and maturity needs. And finally, it was written to help individuals get started in the discipleship process in a way that will ensure maximum fruitfulness and enable them to go out and make disciples. We welcome you to get involved in one of our discipleship groups and step into a whole new dimension of your walk with God.
