Vision Empowers people!
Vision - Exhibit the fullness of God’s Kingdom
<vision> 1a: a manifestation to the senses of something immaterial
2a: mode of seeing or conceiving unusual discernment or foresight
The vision of an organization is defined by its leaders and describe the overall direction.
- It is the “the big picture”
"Where there is no revelation (vision), the people cast off restraint (literally: perish/made naked); But happy is he who keeps the law." (directed course)
"Then the LORD answered me and said: "Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."
The Orbital Model of Leadership
- Based on Relationship
- Relationship supersedes structure
Mission Directs People!
Mission -To equip people for their created purpose.
<mission> 1a: a body of persons sent to perform a service or carry on an activity; 1b: as a specific task with which a person or a group is charged
Mission differs from vision in that vision give the overall framework or the “Big Picture”;
Mission defines the activity of the group in the context of which the service of the vision will be carried out.
"Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began."
"The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know what to say to all these weary ones. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will."
Purpose fulfills people!
Purpose -Help people develop an intimate relationship with God.
<purpose> 1a : something set up as an object or end to be attained; 2a: a subject under discussion or an action in course of execution
The purpose differs from the vision and mission in that the purpose of a group is why they doing what they do.
"But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth."
"And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, that they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was done by our God."
Strategy makes people effective!
Strategy- To establish a regional church center that demonstrates the Kingdom of God and influences its community.
<strategy> 1a: a careful plan or method
The strategy differs from the vision, mission, purpose in that it the strategy may change over time based on need or the goal.
"For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building. 10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward."
